This may not be such a hot idea. One of the major criticisms I read about the KosCon was the attempt to integrate the msm in with the bloggers. Here's one from TeddySanFran over at fdl.
Besides, if we did get some hot shot media people to come, it may be a bit intimidating. Just a thought.

Not for nothing, but this site is TOO sedate. It needs some groovy, rocking graphics.
Oh, and I think it's fine to invite the press.
If you'd like I'll volunteer to do press relations at the Con.
Since that's something I do in my real life.

Sounds like a plan...

Intimidated by the press? Hell, no. Just give them cute little nicknames and some likker and they will give you softball questions for life.
Well, it worked for Bush.
is this going to be another "serious" conference? if not, why bother? we can read/watch the SCLM anytime, we don't need them at ntodd's softball game.

Wow, as a mainsteam journalism who aslo blogs and spoke at YKos, I was all excited about Eschacon -- but you people are killing my buzz. Thanks for the love...we're not all alike.
So, yeah, I'm biased, but while you don't have to bend over backwards to invite mainstream journalists, I wouldn't shoo any away. My sense from Yearly Kos was that those who attended were impressed and less likely to go back to "bloggers are angry people in pajamas" mode.
JMHO.
If this thread isn't already dead, I might point out that someone from a Philly rag was at the last get together & completely missed the point (or wrote as if he did) -- if it were up to me, I'd say screw 'em -- if they show up anyway, try to be as civil as you can, but expect lies anyway (but that's just me)
